Abbey's calling began when she took a full-time role at Kensington Community Church, a megachurch in Troy, Michigan. Her responsibilities quickly grew from Creative Programmer to Creative Team Lead, then finally to K-8th Creative Director. In 2005, while still on staff at Kensington, Abbey joined the creative team responsible for Orange curriculum (The rethink Group) as a Remote Content Creator and was captivated by the process involved in writing and editing content. During this time, Abbey served alongside fellow Believers in Costa Rica, South Africa, Amsterdam, Israel, and Palestine on short-term mission trips. 

In 2009, Abbey transitioned to Director of Children's Ministry in a rural church in Georgia before marrying and relocating to Japan. From 2014-2018 Abbey served as the Director of Religious Education for the Naval Air Facility in Atsugi, Japan, where services were held on base in a 100-year-old dojo. 

In 2019, Abbey, her two sons (Tom and John), and her husband (Michael) relocated to Wisconsin, where she took a role as Director of Family Ministry at Fox River Christian Church for a short while before returning to finish her degree in Psychology from Columbia College. Abbey graduated Magna Cum Laude in August 2021. 

Abbey is also the author and illustrator of Mumpkin the Pumpkin, published in 2018, which teaches children social and emotional skills. 

As a collaborator, these experiences make Abbey a unique voice in an ever-changing global landscape. Having served alongside Believers of every tribe and tongue, Abbey can discern relevant trends and translate them in a way that edifies the Church.

Today, Abbey continues as a Remote Content Editor for Orange curriculum while looking for opportunities to follow her calling, serving the Lord however He leads.
